Do you think teachers need to focus on the aesthetics of writing, i.e students everyday writing? why or why not I think it is necessary for teachers. Teachers need to have some sort of complex listening in order to have a better understanding of students' lives. In the Pahl reading it is stated that "Educators need to listen to the subjective, the sensuous, and the “contradictoriness of the aesthetic” if they are to recognize and engage with the textual voices of their student."

I agree that aesthetics are necessary for teachers. I think that it is important. Understand students' lives is important because it gives teachers insight into that student's way of speaking, writing, etc. and why they do these things in such away. This allows for students to be an individual, rather than just a general expectation for how students should speak, write and think.

All writing promotes critical thinking and all writing is creative. It's important that teachers simply focus on student writing because as long as students are writing, they are critically thinking. There's this stigma around the kinds of writing that promote critical thinking, when in reality, all writing does. So whether it be a daily or weekly journal entry, students should be writing. It's also important that students write about what they want so they can begin to associate writing with fun, instead of boring assignments. So I guess I do think teachers should focus on the aesthetics of writing.

I think writing is the core way to communicate your ideas in an academic setting. To articulate your thoughts through writing in a meaningful way is not easy and takes a lot of practice and work to get it right. I think it is important to train students on how to write and improve their aesthetic of writing. Furthermore, by allowing students to express themselves through writing allows us at teachers to get to know our students and understand them in a new way
