I think that teachers should focus on the aesthetics of writing because in improving their overall writing, it will help the students improve their academic writing. The only way to get better at writing is to simply write. By writing casually more often, it will definitely improve their other writings. Teachers should not ignore academic writing, but I think that it should be not what they focus on. What do you all think?

I think a good way teachers could incorporate casual writing into the classroom would be by having some sort of reflective writing piece after every class. For instance, a journal with what they enjoyed, didn't enjoy, understood, were confused about, and what they'd like to know more about. Maybe even how it relates to them or to something outside of the classroom. This would allow the students to have a creative space in which they could write while it still being part of the class.
