George has just informed me about a grant that he has received that will makes resources available for students to carry out literacy rich active learning among their tutees in their field experience. This grant is called Grants for Engaged Learning. The resources are limited but the person who gets it will receive recognition to go on a resume and it will identify them as looking for ways to mobilize community resources for children.
Essentially, George would like to award a student from the class who can create a great literacy rich unit plan with the grant money he has received. This grant money would be used to purchase any necessities (whether that be play doh, a textbook, science experiment, etc.) for carrying out their unit plan in their whichever tutoring platform they have signed up for.
This is an awesome opportunity!
